A COUPLE OF THINGS!

Monday, October 2, 2017

First, this girl lost her two bottom teeth in the span of a week. She started first grade here in Turkey, like the little trooper she is. Yesterday she told us with a lot of confidence, that she is really smart since she will soon start reading and writing in turkish.
Commence sobbing.
She continues to surprise me with her spirit and willingness to learn and grow.
I know parents all over the world are always yapping about their kids growing, but those few moments when you see it right before your very eyes, it's a beautiful sight to behold.
Also this little stinker. :)
My baby.
No, she is NOT potty trained.
No, she is NOT going to school, yet.
We are NOT recognizing, at all, that she knows all her ABC's and numbers and that she can recognize what a trapezoid looks like. Nope. She is not growing. Not one bit.

As you can probably tell, I'm having a moment.
Also, it's raining and it's 62 degrees out and I have the heat on.

Autumn is here!

OUR TIME IN VIENNA + THE SCHONBRUNN PALACE

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

I'm finally posting some photos from Vienna! I know, I've done you a disservice because Vienna was absolutely beautiful. The night before we left Penelope woke up with a high fever and was pretty miserable all night, and this prefaced our flight to Vienna. I brought my Solly wrap and that was the trip's lifesaver. She was content being on me, and so that's what we did! She is on the mend now and we are slowly trying to walk away from all the sickness.

We got lucky with the weather that weekend because it was a perfect 60-ish degrees. I had brought my nice camera with me but I quickly realized that it wasn't going to happen. I did what I could with a sick babe on my chest, so these photos are brought to you by the good old iPhone. :)

We wanted to do so many things, and Vienna has so much to see, but with all the kids and Penny being so ill, we took it slow and it was kind of perfect. One of the things on my list was to visit the Schonbrunn Palace. The palace has amazing gardens, a children's museum and a zoo on the property! We were there the whole day and the kids got to run and play with the most gorgeous backdrop. There are a whole lot of leaves coming at you!
^^In the children's museum the kids got to pick a costume and dress like a prince or princess. Sienna went nuts trying to pick the prefect princess dress and it was a whole other thing trying to get her to take it off. She kept saying, "Mom, but I'm a princess!"
^^There's even a "Labyrinth" maze on the property!
^^This was at the zoo. Sienna took a nap on the stroller and Penny got to enjoy all the animals.
^^How beautiful is this?

Vienna was pure autumn perfection and I enjoyed every second of it. Not shown here was the amazing schnitzel I scarfed down after at Cafe Hummel. So amazing!

I will post more photos soon and yes, more leaves!

GOOD WEEKS, BAD WEEKS

Thursday, September 17, 2015

You know, as crappy as this week has been, this girl is always smiling. And for someone who isn't sleeping much of anything at night and waking up a million times (right when I'm getting in my comfy spot too) she's never in a bad mood. What's your secret Penny? Please, enlighten us.
And teething just blows.

I'm trying to keep it together and snap out of my bad mood every day. I told Sammy yesterday I don't know what I would do or even what it would feel like if I got eight hours of sleep. I don't think my body could even process it. He said I'll quickly go back to complaining about not getting more sleep. :) My husband, ladies and gentleman.

Even during back weeks, and bad first days of preschool, you have good days. Sienna started preschool yesterday, and after an hour of negotiating and another box of play dough later, she went outside with her class crying. It was so sad, and I kept telling her that it was going to be fun, and she was going to do fun things, i.e., play dough. Kids go to school here from 9 to 5. That's such a long time! I had so much free time, yet I did nothing. I just thought about her all day. I picked her up a little earlier and she greeted me with a big smile, and she said she had a great day. She wanted to put on her uniform and go back tomorrow.
She's so big and brave!

SOME READING BEFORE BED

Friday, May 22, 2015

A couple of months ago, Sienna started asking for a bed time story every night before bed. She would want to read every book in her little collection. She'll pick all the really thick books for me to read for her. In all honesty I didn't do it every night because by the time she goes to bed I'm falling asleep too. I love reading and want her to love it too, so this night I bathed them early so we could have some reading time!

We are loving this book by Herve Tullet. Sienna loves all the colors and the book is super interactive. We read it three times, as always. :)

p.s. can you see the look of adoration from Penny? I bought one of those mirrors you attach in front of the carseat so you can see them from the rearview mirror, and when I would peek at her I would see that she was staring at Sienna. She just stared at her the whole ride home! Sigh, these girls are killing me.

AN EVENING STROLL

Thursday, May 21, 2015

A couple of days ago, Sienna wanted to take her bike out and go to the playground. She's always asking me to go to our community's playground, but she always asks in the middle of the day when it's a gazillion degrees out.  There was a nice breeze one evening so off we went.

Going to the playground just means me pushing her on the swings for an hour, but this time she met a little friend and played with him while Penny and I had a little grass time for our selves. Sienna even gave Penny a kiss! This goes to show you how happy she was! The other day we were driving home from school and Penny started crying and out of nowhere Sienna tells Penny,

"I'm right here," she said. "I'm right here."

How sweet! We are getting there, finally.

SOME PHOTOS + SIENNA BEHIND THE CAMERA

Thursday, March 12, 2015

^^Is it too soon for teething? I think it's too soon.

Is it possible for a cold to last weeks? I'm talking like a solid month here. I feel like the girls will start to feel better, then out of nowhere, the coughing ensues and runny noses start happening again. I don't know what it's like to be in a healthy household anymore. I'd like to give my snot sucker some rest.

Hey weather, be a pal and settle down.

I was taking photos of Penny today when Sienna walked into the room. After many attempts to get them in a picture together, Sienna decided she wanted to take some photos of Penny and I. I was surprised since she is a selfie woman after all. :)

Here's our little photo session, if you'd care to see.
^^This photo made me laugh.

Sienna decided she wanted to be behind the camera today. She's been less keen to photos lately, so I was happy to oblige her and be her model. I am never in photos because I never have anyone to take them! Thanks Sienna for these photos and for putting a face on this blog.
Sienna, let's do this again sometime!

SIENNA AND PENELOPE

Monday, January 5, 2015

I hope you all had a Happy New Year. I spent this holiday season in my mother's house eating, feeding, changing diapers, and doing the same thing three hours later. :) I loved it.

I took these photos of my sweet girls the other day, and thought I would share. Life with these two has been a little hectic, but so fun. Penelope finally blessed our sheets the other night around 4 am. It was pretty spectacular.

Sienna asked me yesterday, "Mom, we need more oranges!"

Like, get it together mom. This house lacks fruit. So I am going to make the brave trip to the grocery store with two kids. People do it. I can do it. People live with two kids. I can live with two kids.

It's Monday, so let's thank God for coffee! #teamnosleep
Have a happy week.
